Windows Vista: Damn you Micro$oft!

After running Vista cracked + activated for almost two months, like so many others last Thursday - I got busted by Microsoft's Genuine Advantage update dubbed "frankenbuild"!! Now, some of you might say "why the hell did you run that patch in the first place?!" Well, I'll tell you why. It's because I'm stupid and didn't really care anyways! I knew sooner or later Microsucks would put out a patch to kill geeks like me that don't want to pay for their crap, I just thought perhaps they would have waited for the official release on Jan.30/07 to crack us! But then, it got me wonder...those assholes they owe me! Don’t they? I mean, I promote their products at work! To my family and friends!

That’s right!! I mean, come on, you really think Bill Gates makes money off little people like me and you? Think again…the big dough comes from the big businesses. Corporate licensing of Windows and Office products, server products; it comes from government agencies and big corporations. So, damn you Microsoft! You greedy bastards! Here’s an ad campaign strategy I thought of for you at the release of Vista next month: Why not sell the product at $20 a pop for the Home Basic edition! And, say, $40 for the Ultimate edition! This way, you’ll sell probably 5 times more copies, no one will bother hacking your freakin’ product activation, and you’ll make tons of cash! Then we’ll all be happy!

Because, to tell you the truth, just the thought of paying $250 for a copy of Vista makes me sick. Aah screw that, I guess I’ll just stick to my good ol’ Windows 95! ;-)

Test Drive: Windows Vista Final RTM

Last time I tested Windows Vista was way back in June which was Beta 2. I've recently got my hands on a copy of the final release-to-manufacture of Vista build 6000. That's apparently the final build which will be released to the masses on January 30th 2007. What do I think of it? It's a total piece of...Art! It's absolutely beautiful! Not mentioning a giant leap from Windows XP in terms of sheer performance and security. Actually, to tell you the truth, as far as security is concerned, I think Windows XP was fine featuring the build-in Firewall and auto-updates. That's why I got the Home Premium Edition because the Ultimate edition just seemed a bit overdone with security and useless features I don't need. Check out the 6 different flavors here.

Once again, Vista did not detect my sound card but that's okay, can't blame Bill for it, the manufacturer does not have any drivers available yet and after contacting them they told me they were waiting for the official release in January to put out a driver to support Vista. Ho! yes, the company is M-Audio and the audio card (great product though) is the Audiophile 2496.

Anyhow, I am glad to say Vista is a nice OS. Certainly Microsoft's best! Congrats Bill you did it! Although I am disappointed of that retarded activation process again because it's just so damn hard to crack! ;-)

With the price of license renewal which will begin sky-rocketing in 2008, like many motorcyclists in Quebec, I'm starting to wonder: Will I be able to afford it? I mean, right now we pay $320 a year to have the darn thing on the road and that’s already expensive enough thank you. But, Quebec past a stupid law which will see that number climb to $627 by 2010! That’s serious dough to have a bike six month a year on the road!

Today, I just got back from a bike ride and it was beautiful. Truly, I enjoy riding a lot. Although it is dangerous it is quite fun. Perhaps it is time to give up that fun :-( I better think real hard about this one. Ho! That picture is my baby sitting on my other baby!

Test Drive: Windows Vista BETA 2

So, like millions of people, I downloaded the Public Beta of Windows Vista and to my surprise it only took about 2 hours to download (cable-modem/Videotron ISP) and it's a 3.13GB ISO file! Of course, I started the download early in the morning. I imagine during peak hours it would have taken longer. Anyways, on with the installation...

The installation process is quite different from Windows XP, although very easy; just follow the step-by-step wizard, read everything carefully, and you'll do just fine. It took about 40 minutes to install on my computer (2.3GHz Athlon64/1GB RAM/kick-ass peripherals!). On first boot, I was quite please to see how beautiful the desktop looks; very slick and polished. Now, I know it is still in Beta and was not expecting much it terms of performance and compatibility. It detected pretty much all the devices except my sound card (M-Audio Audiophile 2496). So here goes the real test-drive...

Although I love the new look, performance is very sluggish. The hard drive is constantly accessed (Index service, hardware monitoring stuff, who knows!) and the OS is very very hungry on graphics. I have the Geforce 6800GT video card and it just isn’t enough; I had to cut down the transparency effect to boost performance a bit. And that damn Access Control thingy crap that keeps popping up every time you try to run a program is extremely annoying; so I turned it off obviously! Anyways, I won’t go into every details of how bad the performance is because, to be honest, Vista is far from being ready and hopefully the next Beta or Release Candidate will be better then this!

I am not a political person very much. I haven’t won my vote at the last election and frankly I don’t give a rats ass about it. But what I do know is that politic doesn’t fix much anything. We have laws for this and for that; we have politicians talking all day about better ways to improve the world and in the end it all seems like nothing gets done, nothing vital that is. That picture above is exactly a good representation of political failure. It clearly shows how fucked up our world is. Fear, hate, oppression, doesn’t matter, the thirst for power is leading the way and at the end of the day that is all what matters: The thirst for even MORE power. How can we be so shameless?! Hypocrites we are.

After the Second World War and 6 million dead bodies included, didn’t we swore “never again”? What the heck have we been doing since then? I think that answer can be found again just by looking at that picture: We haven't done SHIT.

IE7 Public Beta 2

If you read my other post regarding IE7, that it’s not released yet, the date of that post was November 2/05. That was 3 months ago. And again, I remind you that it’s been like five years since IE6 was last introduced. Well today, I have just downloaded and installed the BETA2 of IE7 and I must say that I am not impressed. I mean, if you call your product “Public Beta”, and not just Beta, you at least make an effort in providing a decent product. Well, Microsoft didn’t make much effort to prove the theory!

The interface plain suck; I mean there’s no need reinventing the wheel here. It is just stupid and confusing. Why put the “home” button to the right? And the “address bar” at the top? What is that? But even worse is that you can’t move ‘em around. I mean, you can move/add some modules but not the essential ones such as the address bar or any buttons. Performance-wise, it’s fine I guess for a beta. Ha! I just felt like bitchin’ a bit ;-)

So if you're thinking of installing that crapware, you've been warned by BitBurn!

Everything I could have hoped for happened: Kimi Raikkonen won the race, Michael Schumacher retired, and the track was wet and slippery making the race even more unpredictable!

New Apartment - Renewed Inspiration

Well folks, I have finally moved into my new apartment on August 1. It's a nice upgrade from my old place too! Top floor, plenty of natural light (unlike my old "basement" apartment), more spacious and a bit more luxurious. Thank god for that AC though cuz it does get very warm up here! Weekend Camping

I just got back from a nice weekend of camping with my girlfriend. We went to Camping Picanoc in Gracefield, Quebec. The weather was nice, although a little too hot for me today, but it was great! But damn at night I hate those mosquitoes! Anywayz, I realize now that camping is quite a workout! No time to relax it seems! So I decided that when I win my million dollars at the lottery this week I will get myself a nice big cottage!! ;-)

That's right folks! My all-time favorite band is reuniting for the Live 8 event on July 2nd! Ho and yes, I do mean Waters, Gilmour, Mason, Wright for the first time in 24 years! The rock legends will join a star-studded line-up including Coldplay, Elton John and Paul McCartney at the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park, organised by activist rocker Bob Geldof to pressure rich nations to ease African poverty.

Man o' man, I'm still in shock! I sure hope it's televised! Well hey! Don't take it from me, visit the official Pink Floyd website! ;-)

Rainy Weekend

What a crappy long weekend this has been. I want to move to Hawaii ;-) Actually, a trip to Hawaii would be nice! But anyway, I've been busy lately on some music contracts. So that's great. In other news...

Like millions of us I went to see "Star Wars Episode 3" on saturday night. Being a fan since I was a kid, it was beautiful to see how it all binds together back to 1977 and into Episode 4. Seeing Vader breathing again for the first time gave me goose bumps! Was soooo cool!

I also watched my favorite F1 race driver Jacques Villeneuve make a fool of himself in Monaco when he took his team mate out and prevented him from scoring a point! Jacques, if you're reading this here's a tip for you: "Shut up and do your job!!"

My friend Pico, which was part of Capital Sound too, is currently setting up material to create what is to be called "In the Mix - The Capital Sound DVD" which will feature the three music videos that was released between 1994 - 1997 (Higher love, In the night & Feel the rhythm) and tons of footage! Plus, interviews with all members of the band including Katt, Natalie & Donna! I'll have more news about this project coming in the next couple weeks.

I love NHL hockey, don't get me wrong! But this stupid lock-out has to stop once and for all! Some people are starting to think we won't have a 2005-2006 season either!! You believe that? That would be retarded. I do not know of all the "in-depth details" of all what's going on but I know this: There are a lot of greedy people in this sport! Man o' man! Some of these guys are making $8 - $10 million a year!! Holy cow! That mean if one player makes, say $5,000,000 a year and the last offer in March would have fell through then that player would now be getting like $3,600,000 instead. That's insane!! And yet, it's not enough. Always more more more!!! I say F**k Garry bettman, F**k Bob Goodenow and hell F**k those greedy mutha phuckin' players too!!! Where has all the pride gone?

Went for a motorcycle ride today, south-west of Ottawa. It was very pretty and my gf enjoyed it too, although a little windy on road 16! We didn't really have a destination. We pulled over for french-fries and a donair at a little dinner, near Kars. It was kinda gross! I can't remember the name of the joint! ;-) Better that way. Last night I went out. We ended up at a shithole called Pop-O-Bar. There's karaoke over there so my friend Jack Chuck was singing boring sentimental songs. Aah I love weekends!

Motorcycle season is on!!

Sunday afternoon I took my first ride of the season on my Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 and it was gggreaat!! Got an oil change, new plugs, break pads & new battery. So yes indeed the season is on! Now all we need is some nice weather. Well other than this I've been hard at work on version 5 of BitBurn.org, so that's good. It should be ready in a few days. Have a good week everyone ;-)

Annoying Flash pop-ups!

It's funny, but now that we have a zillion choice of pop-up blocking software there's a new breed of pop-up attacks now!... "Macromedia Flash Pop-up Attacks". Man, they're everywhere! You read an article somewhere and...boom! A little Ford truck crosses the screen! Or those annoying roll-down ads and you have to click the X the roll it back up so it doesn't fill up your screen! And that if you do find the little darn X!!

Well, people, suffer no more! All you have to do is rename the DLL in the plugin folder where you installed Firefox. Sorry, I didn't verify for Internet Explorer because I don't use it much anymore. But for Firefox (any version) do the following:

- Close Firefox
- Browse to the folder where Firefox is installed (i.e. C:\Program Files\Firefox)
- Browse to the folder Plugins and rename the file "npswf32.dll" to "npswf32.BAK"
- If you want Flash again just rename back to "npswf32.dll". That's it!

Just to let you know that the new BlueTonicWorld album called "Homecoming" has been submitted to online retailers last Monday. So, all we can do now is "sit and wait...and be patient!" For more info regarding my BlueTonicWorld ambient music project go to www.bluetonicworld.com. There are also 30 seconds previews for your listening pleasure!

I also would like to point out that this is the first BlueTonicWorld release in four years. Actually, all previous albums have all being "retired" since the changes in management that occurred at Mp3.com late 2003. Just check out this blog once in while for status on the release.

Formula One Weekend

Aah! This weekend is the second GP of the season in Sapang, China. As a fan of Jacques Villeneuve, I sure hope he does better then two weeks ago in Australia. The media were pretty rough on him, going as far as saying he's "washed up" and can't be competitive anymore! Jacques took a sabbatical year last season.
